Welcome to the transitionarberth Website
transitionarberth is part of the transition movement, a community based association helping to prepare local communities to move from a high carbon economy to a more sustainable, low carbon society.We aim to inspire, support and encourage local people to promote a compelling and engaging vision of a more resilient, self reliant future. We aim to raise awareness of the issues associated with climate change and peak oil helping the local community to answer the following question;
For all those aspects of life that this community needs in order to sustain itself and thrive, how do we significantly increase resilience (to mitigate the effects of peak oil) and drastically reduce carbon emissions (to mitigate the effects of climate change)?
Narberth is our local market town, and is therefore the hub of transitionarberth, but the surrounding villages and areas are equally important in this local initiative. All individuals, villages, groups, organisations and authorities are welcome and are needed to play an active and engaging role within the development of transitionarberth to successfully manage a smooth transition from a high energy use society to a locally resilient, energy secure, low carbon society.

Quote of the day:
“(Steven Chu, US Secretary of Energy) was my boss. He knows all about peak oil, but he can’t talk about it. If the government announced that peak oil was threatening our economy, Wall Street would crash. He just can’t say anything about it.
– David Fridley, scientist at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, quoted in an article by Lionel Badal (see Peak Oil News, 10/28, item #23)
